Program

Accepting Applications Through May 1, 2026

CRRC is launching an exciting new Tribal Youth Training Program designed to connect Tribal youth with the land, water, and wildlife that sustain our communities. This hands-on program builds skills in natural resource science while strengthening the ability of our seven communities to care for their lands and waters now and into the future.

We are seeking 15 Tribal youth ages 16 to 24 who are interested in fisheries, wildlife, and science to take part in a 10-day immersive training experience that prepares participants for work as natural resource technicians.

CRRC Tribal Youth Training Program

In this training event you will learn from
experienced mentors in three categories:

Essential
Outdoor Skills

Build confidence and comfort in the field while learning:
• Navigation and orienteering
• Animal tracking
• Plant identification
These foundational skills support safe fieldwork and future learning in natural resource careers.

Applied

Natural
Resource

Monitoring

Gain hands-on experience with real monitoring projects, including:
• Salmon monitoring
• Environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling
• Wildlife monitoring using game cameras
You will learn how data is collected, why it matters, and how it supports Tribal resource management.

Ocean Science with
the CROM Program

Train with CRRC’s Chugach Regional Ocean Monitoring (CROM) team and participate in:
• Ocean chemistry sampling
• Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring
• Phytoplankton tows
• Mussel specimen collection
• Data analysis and community outreach
These activities represent a natural evolution of CRRC’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship in our region.
